Founded in 2024 by Tom and Angel, along with their family, Otway Beef represents a journey from urban living to a sustainable, farm-to-table lifestyle. Despite originating from Melbourne without a farming background, our curiosity about food origins always ran deep.

When Tom’s parents retired to the serene landscapes just west of the Otways in Victoria, we embraced the opportunity for change. Drawn by the prospect of reconnecting with family, living off the land, and crafting something meaningful, we made the leap.

We started with having our own organic vegetable garden, raising chickens and ducks for eggs and preserving our produce.

The only thing missing was meat so we looked for clean organic meat that was free from pesticides and pharmaceuticals but were surprised by the lack of produce sold directly by the farmers in the area.

Together we decided to start raising our own cattle for ourselves and after butchering our first steer in 2022 we saw a significant difference in freshness, quality and flavour. With endless compliments around the BBQ, we quickly realised fresh organic beef was a product many people valued and couldn’t easily get their hands on.

Out of that realisation we had the idea to start packaging and selling our very own 100% grass fed and finished, organic angus beef for all to enjoy! 

Otway Beef was born and we began a journey of a lifetime: to provide Australians with clean organic meat. 

We officially started trading in 2024, working with local butchers who also value the commitment we have to our product, to us everybody who handles our meat before its sold needs to be just as passionate as us.

We chose the breed of angus cattle because it is known worldwide for its superior meat quality and with the experiments we did at home, we knew it was true. 

We only select our 2 year old steers to be butchered ensuring a more flavourful, sustainable product for you. Each cut is aged for a minimum of 10 days guaranteeing exceptional tenderness, then sealed in cryovac bags, labeled, boxed up and delivered straight to your door.
